In the last couple of years I’ve done a deep dive into who I am, how I got here and even though I’m still figuring this out, I do have more clarity. And have some idea about where I want to go. As a person seeking to be a better version of myself, the best mum, wife, daughter, sister, friend, coach and human I can be, I’m getting more comfortable in my own skin. After all, I can’t expect my clients to do this if I haven’t done it myself.
So, if you’re still reading this, and you’re contemplating contacting me, let me introduce myself. In the words below, you can see how I work. Understand what makes me tick. Feel what I value.
I am self-aware. I am a straight shooter and not shy at coming forward. I do operate with intensity but I know when and how to use it. I am pretty big on owning my choices, being accountable and expect others to be as well.
I am a balanced set of scales. I’ve always understood that life is more than work and my grandmother always said, ‘there’s always time to stop and smell the roses Sam’ which I understood was more than a physical pausing moment. The metaphor wasn’t lost on me.
I’m big on emotion. I’m passionate about it. And encourage others to embrace their own emotionality. Look for it. Nourish it. Hence – Discover, Act, Thrive.
I believe things happen for a reason. Even the sucky ones which I’ve had my share of. What matters to me is the behaviour that follows.
Relationships are important to me. I’m highly social. I value honesty and integrity and surround myself with those that reflect these values as well. I am a connector of people with opportunities and when I’m with you, I’ll be present both physically and mentally. That you can count on.
I am curious and creative and as I grow older I’ve learned these are a priority for me and I need to purposefully build them into my week. I have a lot of books. I talk to a lot of people. I like to create and build and encourage those around me to embrace their inner creative and curious selves also.
I think I’m funny. Not as a deflector but I genuinely believe in laughter and am constantly on a mission to be less serious and be open and ready to embrace my inner silly.
I am a really good friend. I’m loyal, always there for my friends and family, even strangers. I have an impossible need to help people.
I’m good with change. Whilst I like planning and structure and can go from strategic to detail in a matter of seconds, I can problem solve, mobilise quickly and adapt. Like most people, my resilience has been tested with life experience and I always seek to learn something along the way and whether I need to do anything differently.
I love to learn. From people I interact with daily to those that write about their life, experience or a story they made up to entertain others. In my goal as a walking work in progress, a wise mentor once said to me, pick one thing from a person that they do really well and replicate. I always look for opportunities to be inspired and enhance.
Never give up. This is my mantra. I have, and always will live by this. I’ve even had it written on my trainers to remind me to keep going at the gym when I think I can’t.
Experience and growing wisdom has also taught me to choose my battles too, know when to walk away and I own those choices.
And that’s about it for now. I feel I should say ‘I love long walks on the beach ….’ Haha which I do!
But most of all I am a work in progress and committed to helping people with their own discovery so they can take imperfect action and thrive.
